Notre-Dame Basilica

This was another church, or rather Basilica, I visited on my hike through Montreal yesterday. This was the one I went hiking to seek out. Basilica is a latin word meaning a church that has been given special ceremonial rights by the pope.

The construction of Notre-Dame Basilica began in 1824. The second tower was not complete until 1843. It stood as the largest church in North America for over 50 years. The Church was raised to Basilica status in 1982 by Pope John Paul II.

If you are in the Montreal area I would highly recommend a visit. This building will literally take the wind out of you with the ornate details in which it was constructed.

Maison Pepin!

Maison Pepin, a boutique in Old Montreal which is dedicated to help you explore your passion for art and life. Infamously is the adjacent alley which is always uniquely decorated. Are you really a photographer if you haven’t photographed this iconic back alley?
